That's either gone over my head - quite likely as things are recently - or I need to hear the whole story.

Blagg, hope all is well with you, sir.

Come back on here, and do your match reports. Like the old days.

Thanks mate. I'm hanging on though lost my Dad last month so it's been another difficult few weeks. Re Match reports - I think it's best to know when things turn around and my heart wouldn't be in it now anyway. I had a good run.

Thanks mate, but I'm ok with it. I think the accepted term of 'he had a good innings' applies here. He a good life, done what he wanted, pretty good-health (particularly as he was a pipe-smoker and played snowballs with asbestos in his engineering years!) , seen his Grand-children turn into top human beings and had my mum, the love of his life, with him till the end; an end that came quickly and without pain. No-one lives forever and as death goes you'd have to sat 'Well played'. Having lost Lady B last year in entirely different circumstances, I'd have to say that I'm fairly wrung-out emotionally and it's not really touched me as much as you might expect.

Sorry for your loss Blagg. It's certainly been a rough two years for you. My heart goes out to you.

This has become one of my favorite things for the season, so thank you for all of the work you put into it.

Day 1 - In The Bleak Midwinter - The Bombay Bicycle Club
Calendar regulars will know I always try to ease everyone in on the first day with a seasonal song, rather than an outright Christmas tune, as there are so many people out there for whom 'it's all too early'.

The trouble this year is the first day of Advent is a Sunday and - another stupid self-imposed rule - Sundays on the calendar have to feature a carol.

So from Radio 1's Live Lounge here are Crouch End's very own indie favourites with a lovely take on a traditional tune.

While this is playing get that loft ladder out and get the Santa hat down.

Sorry to hear about your father Billy, you have been dealt a lot of bad hands last couple of years. Hope the Roaring 20's are better for you and thanks for this thread as usual.

Day 2 - Here Comes Santa Claus - Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans
Bob B. Soxx was the pseudonym of Bobby Sheen and together with the Blue Jeans - Darlene Love and Fanita James - they cut this Christmas classic in 1963 as part of Phil Spector's 'A Christmas Gift For You' album.

Back when this calendar was in its infancy, this might have been considered a bit mainstream but radio airing of Spector's album has dropped off a lot since the producer's incarceration for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson who was found dead from a bullet wound in Spector's home in 2003. After two trials, Spector was found guilty of second-degree murder in 2009 and is serving a 19 years to life sentence, but will be eligible for parole in 2025.

This and the other Sox track on the album 'The Bells of St Mary' are effectively Sheen's total career in music.
